I specialise in criminal defence and regulatory work in Rotorua and the surrounding Bay of Plenty region, including Taupo and Tokoroa.
As an experienced criminal defence lawyer in New Zealand, I am dedicated to providing comprehensive legal support to individuals facing criminal charges. With a strong commitment to justice and a deep understanding of the legal system, I advocate tirelessly for my clients' rights, ensuring they receive fair treatment and a robust defense. Whether you’re dealing with a serious allegation or need legal guidance, I’m here to help you navigate the complexities of the law with confidence and compassion.
Criminal defence is all about standing up for people accused of crimes. It’s the lawyer’s job to protect your rights and make sure you get a fair shake in court. Defence lawyers dive into the details of the case, challenge the evidence, and come up with the best strategies to help you out—whether that means negotiating a plea deal or fighting for you in front of a judge.
I am an approved Legal Aid Provider. If you are facing serious charges that carry a maximum penalty of 14 years and more, I can be nominated as your preferred lawyer in your legal aid application.
Regulatory defence is all about helping people and businesses navigate the tricky world of regulations and compliance. Whether you’re facing a government investigation or trying to sort out compliance issues, having a knowledgeable lawyer in your corner makes a big difference.
I have specialised knowledge in defending charges laid under the Maritime Transport Act 1994, Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, Resource Management Act 1991, and Civil Aviation Act 1990.
Criminal appeals are all about seeking justice after a conviction. If you believe there was a mistake in your trial—whether it was an error in the law, issues with evidence, or problems with how the trial was conducted—you may be able to appeal the decision.
It’s a chance to have a higher court review your case and potentially overturn the verdict or reduce your sentence. Navigating the appeals process can be complex, but having an experienced lawyer on your side can help ensure your rights are protected and your voice is heard.
I was admitted as a lawyer in August 2018 after graduating with LLB (Hons) and BA (Psychology and Philosophy) from the University of Auckland.
I moved to Rotorua from Auckland as a young graduate, clerking for the Judges in the Rotorua District Court for 2 years. Afterwards, I spent the next five years in practice as a Prosecutor; initially with the Crown Solicitor office in Rotorua and then briefly with Maritime New Zealand.
After five years as a Prosecutor, I decided to experience the other side of the coin and started my own practice as a criminal defence lawyer.
I carry PAL 3 approval from Legal Aid, which means that you can put me down as your preferred lawyer if you are legally aided and facing serious charges. Alternatively, I also accept private instructions directly if you are not eligible for Legal Aid.
